About
Daphne Kramer
I am a conservator specialising in modern and contemporary art and work for museums, galleries, auction houses, corporate collections and private individuals. I graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a Master’s degree (MSc) and a Post-Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Modern and Contemporary Art. This degree is a relatively new direction in the conservation industry and specialises in the conservation of modern materials such as plastics, media art and modern paints. Over the years, I have deepened my knowledge by attending courses, conferences and lectures. Each conservation project gives me the opportunity to immerse myself in an artist’s working methods and materials, expanding my knowledge in new ways.
I founded Kramer Art Conservation in the Netherlands in 2020 and continued it in Germany after several years of working with museums. Previously, I worked as a painting and sculpture conservator at Kunstsammlung Nordrhein Westfalen in Düsseldorf (2021 – 2023) and at Museum Folkwang in Essen (2023 – 2024), Germany. Previously, I completed internships at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen and Rijksdienst voor het cultureel erfgoed, among others.
